She's Ok but she has so many fears. One is now she's sorry of her dog bowl. I had changed it from a plastic to a ceramic one to wash the plastic dish. Well, her tags hit the bowl, scared the crap out of her and she hasn't eaten now in 2 days. I changed it back and tried to manipulate her but no go. She's so odd, what do I do?
A: Doesn't strong like she is odd just has a lot of fears. The best thing for you to do it to is praise her so that she knows it is OK. Often a lot of the fears will vanish as dogs appreciate that you are not trying to hurt them. With a lot of patience, love, and understanding your dog will learn that things are OK. In the mean time to get her to eat try placing an inescapable treat in her bowl (a small dab of peanut butter). When she goes to eat tell her how good she is. My dog use to...

Sublime Dog Feeding systems are recommended by Veterinarians for larger sized breeds, older dogs, or dogs with permanent medical problems. However most dogs will greatly benefit from an elevated dog feeder. Raised Feeding improves digestion by minimizing the amount of air swallowed during the chewing technique. Raised feeding helps to decrease the risk of bloat and stomach torsion, while maintaining good viewpoint and putting less strain on joints and hips.
Yes you can it would serve them to take in less air. Large breed dogs with deep chests are more prone to get bloat which can be caused by taking in too much air while eating.
I reckon it is true. Especially if it is a bigger dog...bigger than a chihuahua anyhow. It is also good for their necks and backs. Especially for older dogs.
Dogs in the barren eat off the ground. I have never seen a dog have a problem with eating off the ground.
For older dogs it mak be practical, especially an arthritic dog. But the natural eating and drinking position for a dog would be with the food on the ground and the water even trim. If you weren't feeding it, it would be eating what it killed off the ground and drinking from a puddle or lake. In the stratagem it wouldn't last long after the body started deteriorating so the problem of not being able to bend over for it's sustenance would be the least of it's issues.
I have 5 Akitas ( Manful, female, and three 4 week old pups, two female and one male)!!!!! I have all their bowls raised not only does it help with their digestive system but it is easier on their necks the manly is 105 lbs. and my female is 75 lbs. the pups are 7 lbs. each!!!!
I have always been told that keeping the feeding dish on the footing helps prevent bloat. After your added info,I started searching the web,and also found alot of conflicting info on raised feeding.See what your Vet thinks on the controversy.Deep chested breeds, and males 2 years or older are the most common victims of bloat. But It doesn't torture to take precautions regardless.
