I am looking to breed my Border Terrier? Do I need to obtain a license? Also how dI get my Border Terrier KCC registered?

A: Unfortunately, you don't need a licence to breed if it's only one or 2 litters a year, but you would be well advised to leave it to the experts. If your Border Terrier isn't Kennel Club Registered there is no way you can register her - only her breeder can do that and then only if her parents are already registered.

i have a border terrier and i want to be able to let him outside without having to worry about him running away. but i want to know if electric fences are good a border terrier.

A: Your dog would have to be trained to respond to his collar (most terriers are known to be 'hard headed' but also very quick learners)- my concern with the e-collars and fencing has always been that even if my dogs were trained to stay in my yard (and you were responsible and removing the collars etc...)- there would be nothing to stop other dogs from coming into my yard...just another thing to think about, especially with a little guy like a border terrier...

Does anyone know how long border terriers normally live for. We have a female one, who is now 14yrs. On the whole she is pretty healthy, although she is slowing down a lot and sleeping more. Having 2 kids would like to know how much longer she will possibly live for, so can prepare them for the time ahead.

A: Depends on where you get the pup from. If you get one from a show breeder it'll have a reduced life span and a higher risk of hereditary diseases due to line breeding
