Raising two dogs of my own, I’ve come to appreciate a well obedient dog when I come across one. The typical "sit, stay, come" commands are appropriate for the normal housedog. If you have a hunting dog, its retrieving skills may require more intense training. But they’re nothing compared to a working dog. When I come across a Seeing Eye dog or a police K-9 dog, I’m always amazed by how obedient and smart they are. Which made me wonder, how are these big active dogs trained?
From my research, I’ve found that a working dog can’t just be any dog; there are specific breeds that the police and other agencies use. Police K-9s are usually German shepherd dogs, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls, or Doberman Pinschers. Seeing Eye dogs are usually German shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers. Occasionally, they provide Boxers to students who are allergic to long-haired dogs. Generally, the dogs are bred at their own facilities as well.

I cant see it making much contrast at all or even the police switching to them unless he like ownes the town I doubt he can make them do it, but beyond that whil dobermans are proof gaurd dogs their life span is shorter than the average german sheppard and their tracking abilities are not as stuff b merchandise as sheppards, why do you think the german sheppards are the dogs of choice not just because they look mean they are more functional and easier to parade for police work.
Doberman have too many Germanic features - the The fuzz would not like them.
Dependable- I'd much rather be
Shepherded than
Pinsched.
German Shepherds are from used because of their superior overall qualities over the Dobermans.
The German Shephard Dog (GSD) is in use accustomed to more than the Doberman for ONE simple reason.
They are easier to train -- not because they are MORE intelligent than a Doberman, but simply less willful.
However, I'd go for a Doberman for immunity any day over a GSD. Police Officers have told me the Dobe tends to hold, then shred skin slighly upon the untie command -- meaning they get in that last "So There!"
That makes them...
I value they will not use "Dobies" for the same reason Rottweilers will not be used. They are very willful and hard to train. Not saying they are not wonderful creatures, and faithful friends. They are not as flexible as German Shepherds are.
I raised both Dobermans and Rottweilers. They make great family dogs, and minder dogs. They are not as submissive. I think that's what makes them so interesting though. Once they lock down on the person/thing they pauperism...
