We have discussed adopting a greyhound in the since, but are unsure if our wireless fence can be used with a greyhound. We have a pool fenced in the back yard, but the layout of our trait does not really allow a regular fence. We live in a rural setting with wildlife around, but to some degree close to a large arboritum and semi-busy road. Our dog does great on the wireless enclosure, but I can't find any information if they are appropriate for retired racing greyhounds due to their...
A: Inferno NO!
Neither sighthounds nor scenthounds do well on an IF. No rescue in their right mind would consider anything EXCEPT a physical fence. Personally I wouldn't take in any dog to a home with an IF.

Greyhounds are gushy wonderful dogs and all the ones I've known have been great family dogs. However, please do your homework first and find out as much as you can about the generate and also about the particular dog you are looking at. Greyhounds are HIGH ENERGY especially when young and will need LOTS of exercise. Most will at the end of the day calm down as they get older and make great companions. Please, if you do decide on a Greyhound - PLEASE adopt one from a Greyhound deliver.

Never met one I didn't like. Touch a rescue group. They can match An ex racer to be the best fit for your situation
There are Greyhound liberate groups all around the country and they often have public adoption days. See if you can find one in your area and talk to the people at the event. They are for the most part foster caretakers for the greyhounds and can tell you everything you need to know about caring for one and if their temprament suits your situation. They are unequalled dogs!
Terrifying DOGS!!!
Do some research. Rescues are loading up now due to race tracks closing and trying to save so many from being euthanized. If you appetite to know more I would certainly suggest getting ahold of your nearest greyhound rescue and volunteering. Make to foster, offer to help at adoptions. You will be amazed at their ability to be several dogs and no one moves. They are actually very placidness dogs. They do need a fenced in yard and I would never let one go...
I am a volunteer with a saving organization, Greyhound Friends New Jersey www.greyhoundfriendsnj.org It is a misconception that all greyhounds are high energy - they actually lack no more and sometimes less exercise than other breeds, are especially adaptable to apartment living. That is why they are called couch potatoes since they take a nap an average of 18-20 hours a day. Like all breeds, some dogs are better with children than others, but as a whole, I find greyhounds to be the most...
Greyhounds are fabulous doggies! Most have a high energy level (unless you adopt an older retired racer from the Needle Nose Company) I have fostered and owned around 10 greyhounds (I don't own any now) My dog Tazo was such a sweetheart, they dog-test them and cat test them before you get them, and he was around 4 when we got him. He was a big couch potato! Some are sound with kids (generally older ones) because they are big they can knock down small kids and not know it) they are kind,...
Hi! We barely got a 2 y/o female retired greyhound and she's just really smart, sweet, gentle and loving. It's scarcely a week since we got her and we already love her more & more each day. She is considered young for a grey and so far, she sleeps most of the day --14 to 16 hrs. I take her for a 20-30 min parade/jog and a couple of shorter walks for poop/peeing. We bring her to the dog park so I can jog more with her . She has shown no interest on our 2 ten y/o manful cats....
