I have a Schnauzer at the jiffy, and I'm looking for a second dog. There's a Lakeland Terrier in a shelter not far from me. I may be too late, as it ominously says "end year 09/04/08". I'll try phoning tomorrow. (it's half seven here). What are they like?

A: lakelands are very sloppy dogs...they are playful and silly and wonderful family companions...they can be a little obsessive when it comes to toys and nourishment and so on..and like most terriers they are barkers..bold and couragous...I think you would be fine adopting the lakeland... you need to originate them slowly but they will take to each other and be loads of fun..alot of people keep their terriers in small packs

I am looking to get a lakeland terrier and can't find any breeders in New Jersey. Are there any breeders websites that I don't identify about? Thanks!

A: Arrest the parent club's website for breeders in your area. You may have to travel to find a breeder.

My one's own flesh and I have decided to get a dog. We have searched around and have found a jack ruusel cross lakeland terrier. He is 7 months old and we are going to see him tonight. We have 2 cats 11 years and 8 years old. Would he be a hornet's nest to our cats and would he chase them?

A: There is always the odds that he would not only chase them but he could kill them. I had a JR for 17 years and I am sorry to say that he once did kill a cat. From a distance a dog cannot tell a cat from a rabbit and if the cat runs the dog's unartificial instinct is to chase it and then go in for the kill.

If you get a puppy and it is brought up with the cats it would just accept them but a 7 month old JR/Lakeland Terrier is imo

"The dog was seen to run towards the boy and jump up at him.

"It then bit him on his right cheek causing deep open wounds.

"His brother was frightened and tried to get the dog off but it ran away."

The court heard the youngster was left "extremely shaken and was screaming".

Ms Clark said the youngster's mother came out, put a towel on his wounds and called an ambulance.
