Hey all, I have a 5-month old American Staffordshire Terrier MIX who is at around 30 lbs and somewhat short. Any other owners of AmStaffies and if you could share Your pup's size/weight at this age.

A: The cross of an amstaff isnt that important as long as it it in proportion to it's height, which should be around 17-19 inches. My sister has a 3 year old amstaff and he weighs around 80-90 lbs. Idk how overblown he is though. I haven't measured.

American Pit Bull Terrier are the closest breeds to each other.

American Staffordshire Terriers are surely a larger variety of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The "Staffords" originated from the Old English Bull and Terrier crosses of the 1850's in England. The Ashen Bull Terrier also came from this same old stock with the addition of Dalmatian, and White English Terrier which is now died out.
Americans seemed to fancy the larger of the Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and started importing these larger specimens to the USA....
