How much exercise do australian shepherds need daily? Do they need more than just walks, like running, agility, etc?
I live in an area where it gets very cold and snowy in the winter, so I'm not sure how I could exercise an australian shepherd in the winter. I have a large yard, but it is not fenced in.
A: Bundle up and go for walks!!! Aussies have quite a lot of energy, so you should be looking at 2x 30-40 minute walks/jogs per day, plus some good exercise/mental stimulation like fetch. If the walks are LONG enough, they won't necessarily need to run, but it would be ideal if they had a big backyard to play in, too. Agility wouldn't hurt :D

yes maturity is the answer, my pup is 21 weeks old and ive been training him from he was about 6 weeks old he still bites the odd time but most of the time hes brillaint, you just have to keep saying NO and she will finaly learn, she has got to be taught everything to no how to behave,be persistent it will pay of soon , i promise, you have to remember she is still a baby. you dont need to use drops
there is a spray called bitter apple spray which has worked for our dogs. I have bought it at pet smart.Good luck!
this could turn into a real problem if not stopped now as you know Aussies are very smart and also have so much energy. they were not meant to be house pets they are in the class of herding dogs. the can run for miles and miles. she is still young enough to keep her from getting bad habits. what will work for 1 dog might not work for another. call our vet and ask if they can recommend a good trainer for you. if not i can only suggest that you start training her yourself. when she bites hold...
