They are VERY produce dogs - in fact, I have 2! They're very loveable, but do require a little love :-). First-class thing is that they don't shed, however, they are not very good with other dogs and have trouble being trained!

A tiny friend of mine has three Bichons. They are very loving little dogs and don't shed or smell bad, not to mention cuter than all get out but they do seem to be garish. I don't know if that's due to the breed or their environment but when she gets home or they want her attention they are very yappy. Like I said, I don't recall if that's the breed or if it's the environment. You can research the breed and it should tell you if they are very vocal by nature... she...

It sounds like a bichon will be a talented fit for your family. The behavioral things you require will, with ANY breed, require some training. You have to take the puppy out to socialize it to be satisfactory with other dogs, children, adults, and things like that. Consider taking it to a puppy class, no problem what breed of dog.
There's a critical period of socialization in a puppy, where they need to be exposed to things so they don't end up abnormal about them later. A...
