We had a cat burglar the other night so my mom wants to buy a new dog. She wants to buy a chinese shar pei since its a fighting dog but I don't think it'll be a good keep dog. What do you guys think?

A: If the only talk over with you're looking at getting a new dog is to guard the property, then, honestly, you're better off with a security warning because it will be a lot less trouble for the same function. Obviously, if you're a dog lover and want a dog as a pet anyway, then that's great! :)

I have a Chinese Shar-Pei that is almost a year old. She has dry derma problems and is a short hair dog but is shedding. I took her to the vet. and spent close to $200 on her not long ago and she keeps having sores from sratching dry bark. I've put this stuff called hot spots on her for flees, ticks, and everything else. Plus baby oil to hydrate her hull. Please any advice will be appreciated. She is like my daughter.

A: Unfortunately, Shar-Pei are still a robustness-challenged breed. Several years ago they were very popular and everybody and his brother were breeding them for the $$$$$$ with no regard to well-being or quality. The problem is not inbreeding, but careless breeding. The breed is still recovering.

I typically go into the office for a few hours in the morning before I teach my first class of Zumba, however, this morning when I woke up I had terrible lower back pain from dancing yesteday at the game. Instead of going to work, I went to see my good friends May and Yvette at Ultimate Health & Fitness, which is a Pilates based Physical Therapy facility. (I also teach Zumba with them too!)
