I am thoughtful about getting a french bulldog, but ive noticed that some faces are more pug than others, is this because they are mixed with boston terriers? I would really like one that does not have a smushed appearance. I also would like to know the differences between the two : because the prices are alot different, but they do look similar.
A: All French Bulldogs (also called "Frenchies") have smooshed in faces. They are not impure with anything, that is just what they look like. They are, obviously, a member of the bulldog family. They are very expensive, ranging from $2500 up to $5000. Boston Terriers do not have such a unmistakeable smooshed in face and are members of the Terrier breed. They are much less expensive. Go to www.akc.org They have a breeder referral folio where you can find breeders. An even better place is the national club for Frenchies. Google something like "French Bulldog Country-wide Club", I'm not sure what it is called but the AKC could direct you to it.
Another great avenue to search would be suitably here on Yahoo Groups. They have a lot of groups devoted to specific breeds. This is where you will find breeders sharing information and talking...
