great pyrenees are wonderful dogs...i fostered one that was misused and feared people...i worked with her and got her to trust me but then couldnt give her up....
they do have alot of hair to take care of and need lots of activity (ours use to run for hours)..
theyre very faithful to their owners also....very sweet dogs...
they are very loving dogs and get along well with other animals...
i yourself dont kno where u can get one but there are websites for pyrenees...

You have some great answers here...I reasonable wanted to add a few points for you to consider!! GP are absolutely wonderful dogs, but they are certainly not the dogs for everyone!

They were bred to entertain the idea independently (without human input/direction), so GP can be quite difficult to train, to say the least!! They are stubborn and wearying-headed.

They are also a VERY vocal breed. They will bark and bark and bark when outdoors, it is their instinct....

Below are two Pyr gorups that have both breeders and let go free people as members.

You can also search at Petfinder and Dogster. At Dogster, search for an "adoptable" dog.

Pyrs and Goldens get along well. A pyr would safeguard a lovebird, but first you have to introduce them so the pyr knows the lovebird is part of the family, and therefore one of it's charges to guard.
