Any dog could be proof with a dog if you train it, but soft coated wheaten terriers are generally high energy and would most likely want to chase cats.

He is a terrier, make instil number one.

HOWEVER, that isn't the end of it. Plenty of dogs do just fine with cats. Everything is going to depend on the dog's before experiences and personality.

Where are you getting the dog? There is a pretty good chance that wherever he is, they have already done a temperament test and can tell you what they about or know about it - did you ask?

I'd say that at 4 years old, a loaded energy dog is going to be next to impossible to train to like a cat. It's best to raise a kitten and puppy together to get them to like each other.

It's not impartial the dog you have to worry about either- it's your cat. My experience having a jillion cats over my life is that they're naturally craven of dogs and they run away. When they run, they become a meal or a toy and the dogs naturally will run after them....
