i am trying to train my 15 month old whippet to come every single time called. i know it is especially hard for sighthounds since they are distracted so easily, but does any other whippet or sighthound owner have very helpful tips that they've used to train the recall on their dogs?
ive read several articles about recall training, but i'd like to hear specifically from other sighthound owners on how they have achieved near perfect recall.

Very high strung, especially if they're younger. You really need a fenced in area.
If you like the look of a whippet, get a greyhound instead. Retired racers are couch potatoes - they don't need near the exercise.

OMG I have a whippet and he is the cutest, most lovable family dog anyone could ask for. I highly recommend them! I'm not sure about the apartment setting for them, though. they really need a lot of exercise. as long as you can offer ample exercise, i geuss it would be fine. good luck!
Whippets are great dogs. But they need lots of excersize and attention.
most whippets will be fine in an apt. but realize they need to run (so would a greyhound) they are runner dogs. If your willing to take hi out running in a dog park ect by all means. they are wonderful dogs
