The town’s animal control officer is on administrative leave as town officials investigate whether she lied about a missing silky Yorkshire terrier to the dog’s owner.
Town Manager Mark S. Stankiewicz said he placed Kristin Bousquet on leave with pay “pending a hearing on the incident.”
He said the hearing is expected to be held later this month.
Janet Torren, 59, of Rochester, accused Bousquet of giving away her 4-year-old Yorkshire terrier, Shai, on Sept. 22, three days after Bousquet found the dog roaming free in Stoughton.
The dog had a microchip implanted in her ear. Torren said she called the chip’s distributor, 24PetWatch.com, and was told on Oct. 1 that Shai’s chip had been scanned by a device licensed to the Stoughton pound on Sept. 18.
