Q: We're about to buy a small dog - English Toy Terrier - and were wondering about how uninjured the various ways transporting them were? Our car is a saloon not a hatchback. Can dogs this small use a harness OK? The breeder has recommended a plastic airline manner travel box to bring the puppy home and that's what we'll do for that journey. We're thinking about later on when it gets measure older and for short journeys - e.g. school run/park etc.

A: If you are prevalent on a walk, you should use a harness. But if you want to use the crate, it is not real good for traveling it is good for leaving at home. The most skilfully one for traveling is the plastic carrier.

I'll looking for a harness for my 6lb Pom. I'm regretful that he will pull too much and hurt his throat, but he also has an enlarged heart, so I heard a harness is more gentler for that reason as well.
Right now I have a harness that was made for senescent dogs because the straps are thicker but I don't like the fact that it still goes around his neck.

A pet transporter is best and equip it with a toy or chew bone or stuffed animal and never leave it unattended in the car.
The airline luxury plastic crates are generally the best all around solution. The soft crates can be okay when the pup is older and more well behaved (i.e.-it won't masticate its way out). But the plastic ones create the best den feeling.

A unique sized airline carrier is by far the safest, that is why the airlines use them.
crate or manageable carrier is safer
I like better the crate, because there is a better air flow than in the plastic carriers.
My people had the same problem last year in november and that question is easy,I would say that a harness is the easiest way because your terrior wont feel locked away and it will climate happy and wont bark that much. if you are traveling in the car most pet specialty stores will have a harness and install belt attachment system for your small dog. putting a small dog in a crate or plastic carrier can make them really nervous about current in the car because they cannot see what is going on around them.
