We have multiple dogs RottX's and Periphery Collies from 2 -14 years old. For twenty years we have been happy with Iams Chunks but recently our dogs have dull dry coats. Two of our other dogs eat a exceptional diet and they show no change; so it is not environmental. I don't want to make my own dog food, can anyone offer a good commercial replacement for Iams?
A: Here is a install that will show you which dog foods are the best and the worst. I suggest that you get any one of the dog foods that are top rated.

Please never use any food from Purina, because they are all crap, and you would never want to feed a pet that you loved...
parentage and Iams both use By-products, both need to be avoided. Not good foods for your dog.
Well, Iams do experiments on dogs, including raw bits of their flesh off, force feeding them vegetable oil, and removing their vocal chords without anaesthetic. I wouldn't put them with a barge pole.
Pedigree is also owned by an animal testing company. I know this isn't what you asked, but I could never upon a company like that. Natural foods are better. I can't suggest any though if you aren't in the UK.
Last year there was a worst issue with some of the common dog food brands being contaminated and many dogs and cats did die. I think IAMS was one of the brands and possibly Family as well. They are both grocery store brands and I don't feed either to my animals.
While they may currently be SAFE to feed to your animals, that doesn't great they are quality foods. Those are pretty much the top rung of crap you can buy at the grocery store, and I'm sure someone else will reply...
No, they are bad. Wellness is goodness.
Iams and Purina are low importance foods - not even thinking about the recalls both brands have had in the past as opposed to other companies... just look at the ingredients!
Depending on the keyboard of Iams ( i use Proactive Health adult lamb/rice for this example) you have lamb meal (good) with Brewers Rice and Corn (both low prominence by-products and a filler - corn is also a known allergen and hard to digest), more grains that don't moment and by-products. None of it...
Nope.. Peradventure you want to watch this youtube about iams and their abuses.
they are not the first but they are now safe. there was some cases that had killed some animals in the past due to bad food which was recalled. just to be safe and healthy alteration food. read the label!
