yes, it sounds like an ear infection. you may not be capable to see anything, so it may be an internal infec.
When a dog shakes his talent alot, this can be a sign of a beginning ear infection, especially since they are a bit red.
Ear infections can very quickly get out of hand and even cause the infection to move down onto the aspect and side of the neck.
I would take him to the vet to be on the safe side.

it could also be a yest infection, if it has a odour then more and likely that's what wrong either way, i would get to a vet.
