I NEVER put an e-collar on a dog without matching it to their normal training collar on myself first. The idea is that both the e-collar AND the dogs natural collar have exactly the same meaning to the dog.

Ok then, you put one on and put up with the exertion of an unsuspecting shock every time you do something that someone else doesn't like.
If you trained your dog properly in the first place, he/she would do what you wanted, and would be acquainted with what was required of him/her.
Shock collars, choke chains and any other types of restrainers are cruel, they are cruel because they HURT.
Why would you requirement to hurt your dog???
All any dog needs is love...
